VOTING MEMBERS

Chairperson
Will be present and chair the board of Directors, the Executive Committee, any meeting of the members of the corporation (i.e. Annual General Meeting. report to each annual meeting of members of the Corporation concerning the management and operations of the child care center, represent the childcare center at public or official functions, ensure that the Executive Director with his/her input prepares an agenda for the Board meeting, ensure that the books of minutes and finances are kept in order, ensure that the various committees of the board are operational and functioning in accordance with their Terms of Reference *perform such other duties as may from time to time be determined by the Board of Directors.

Secretary
Attend all meetings of the Board and the Executive Committee; Be the custodian of all minute books of the corporation and of the documents and perform such other duties as the Board of Directors.

Vice Chairperson
The Vice-President shall have all the powers and perform all the duties of the President in the absence or inability or refusal to act, of the President and shall perform any other duties assigned by the President and/or the Board of Directors.

Fundraising Chair
Shall chair the fundraising/marketing committee for St. Gabriel’s Child Care Centre. The committee ncludes a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 members and includes both general members and Staff. Its mandate is to oversee and report to the Board on all matters pertaining to fundraising. To develop fundraising plans and objectives, linked both to budget requirements and feasibility and to promote the implementation of all approved fundraising activities.

Treasurer
Shall be chairperson of the Finance committee, be responsible to ensure the books of account and accounting records be responsible to ensure the books of the corporation required to be kept by the provisions of the Corporations Act are up to date and in good order, Submit a financial report at each regular meeting of the Board of Directors indicating the financial position of the corporation at the close of the proceeding month, Liaise with the Personnel Chairperson regarding salary scales, increases and benefit package reviews,submit an annual financial report, to the Board and the corporation, of the financial operations of St. Gabriel Child Care Centre of Woodbridge. *have all the accounts audited *assist the Executive Director in preparing the annual budget, and ensuring that all bills are paid, fee payments are received, ensuring the accuracy and currency of all bank records; and *perform such other duties as the Board of Directors may direct

..I was cheered onto the Board of Directors in October of 2003 and have enjoyed every step of the way. Being a first time serving on any board of directors and not knowing how I can contribute, I was hesitant in joining. I bring some general IT experience that stems from my full time electrical design career. I know one thing is for sure, that when you have a team working together, with a common goal, anything is achievable starting with success!! I currently do not serve on the board as a voting member, however I remain committed to the centre, helping out with the web site.

Human Resource & Policy Review
Human Resources/Policy Committee is a standing committee of the Board of Directors and is comprised of Board members. It contains a minimum of three and a maximum of five members. The Executive Director attends and reports as required. The Chairperson of the Personnel Committee shall be a member of the Board of Directors and a minimum of one additional committee member must be a member of the Board. It has a mandate to create a Job Description for the Executive Director and to review it on an annual basis, To approve job descriptions for all personnel, To conduct a formal performance evaluation of the Executive Director annually (and provide ongoing feedback throughout the year), To develop and maintain a Personnel Policy and Procedures Manual, To interview and hire all full-time staff in conjunction with the Executive Director, To establish and review competitive salary scales and benefit packages in conjunction with the Finance Committee.

School Representative & Time Keeper
The School Representative's role is to liaison between the St. Gabriel The Archangel Catholic School and the St. Gabriel Day Care Center, for related items of mutual concern, events. and for being the time keeper at board meetings.

..I have been Executive Director for 4 years at St. Gabriel and that is only part of my 20 years experience in the Childcare field. Working with dedicated staff and parents on the Board of Directors is a privilege. As a Director working in partnership with staff and parents in providing a safe and caring environment where children may grow and learn is paramount. I look forward to continuing to provide an environment that is safe, secure and supportive of good health and learning, where self esteem is enhanced and play is encouraged in a warm loving atmosphere.

..my commitment to St. Gabriel Childcare Centre for the last 18 years since it's unveiling, also includes participation on the Board of Directors. I have worked with children in various ages throughout the centre. I work mainly with the kindergarten children and partly as Associate Director in the Administration office.

..I am in my sixth term serving on the Board of Directors, as representative for the St. Gregory The Great Academy Before and After School Program. I am pleased that our program is doing very well and near capacity. I have been part of this community and have seen first hand how the community has grown and the need for such options presented by the Childcare Centre to our working families.
